Behind the Lens
About Me
I’m Yoav Cohen—a landscape photographer, tech enthusiast, and reserve IDF officer, based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
For years I have enjoyed photography. My latest portfolio, called "Point of View", was born out of my love for photography, storytelling, and Israel itself. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a photo-journalistic journey to rediscover what I thought I knew about my home. I decided to go beyond the classic and well-known, bringing to life Israel’s secrets— places and events hiding in plain sight that were yet to be shared with the world.
I am privileged to have photos recognized by National Geographic Israel, DJI, various photography communities and to have been featured in The Jerusalem Post, Times of Israel and national media channels.
Like everyone in Israel and many around the world, my life changed drastically on October 7th, 2023. Photography became the last priority as I was drafted to my officer position in reserves in a mass emergency call up in what was no less than a war for our home.
For close to 250 days I found myself in a parallel world - fully committed to the mission and the historic significance of protecting our home alongside over 300,000 reservists. In my services I have met the tragedy that comes with war, as well as the heroism that goes beyond words.
I’ve never lost my passion for exploring, capturing, and sharing the beauty and complexity of Israel. It is with this passion that I continue the journey that I started.
I believe photography sparks meaningful conversations and connections. I invite you to join me, and to bring a piece of hidden Israel to your space to share with the world.
Thank you for visiting
