On a hot morning in the middle of summer, I found myself at the Yardenit on the Jordan River, just before it reaches the Sea of Galilee. This is the spot that millions of Christian pilgrims have visited to be baptized where Jesus walked on water.
Not far from this spot lie these boats, used by local and international vacationers to travel up and down the river. From above, early in the morning, you could easily mistaken being in Thailand. But no, this is where Jesus and modern tourism meets, in a tranquil frame of holy water and modern attractions.
