+ Behind the Image

"The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone"

(Psalms 118:22)

One of Israel's oldest settlements, Rosh Pina predates the State of Israel by 70 years. First settled in 1878, it has been a pioneering moshava in many fields -from education to agriculture.

This image was captured from Mitze Nimrod - a memorial to Nimrod Segev, and the soldiers who fell with him, in the 2nd Lebanon War.

After two disappointing mornings, I was determined to capture the sun as it started rising above the mountains, illuminating the Hula Valley and the red tiled roofs of Rosh Pina with its first golden rays. From the history of Rosh Pina's first settlers to the story of Nimrod and the Second Lebanon War, this image represents a land that has know many celebrations, and many sorrows.
